The information for setting up this iPhone app on XP with Reaper is very limited. Here is a quick guide.

Installation:

So far I’ve only got this to work on XP because I don’t know of a midi loopback driver with Windows 7 support that has multiple inputs and outputs.

Install DSMIDIWiFi.

Install Midi Yoke (the loopback driver).

Reboot (otherwise the new midi drivers won’t be visible).

First time setup:

Open DSMIDIWiFi and select the following:
Input: “In From MIDI Yoke: 1”
Output: “Out To MIDI Yoke: 2“

Open AC-7 on your iPhone and just leave it running.

Open Reaper and do the following:

Go to Options -> Preferences

Under Audio – Midi Devices enable the following:
Midi Input: “In From MIDI Yoke: 2”
Midi Input: “In From MIDI Yoke: 1”
(Note the numbers are opposite from the settings in DSMIDIWiFi)

In that same preference window, click Control Surfaces (bottom left).

Add a new control service, when prompted, choose “Mackie Control Universal”.

Configure the inputs and outputs as follows:
Midi Input: “In From MIDI Yoke: 2”
Midi Input: “In From MIDI Yoke: 1” (Same as before)

Apply the changes. The software should function now.

Further use (before opening Reaper in the future):

Open DSMIDIWiFi and select the following:
Input: “In From MIDI Yoke: 1”
Output: “Out To MIDI Yoke: 2“

Post-rock is a genre of music that goes along with a certain philosophy, and that is if you take out the singer, it forces the band to play better music. In my personal opinion I think almost every singer ruins almost every band. On a whole other level, if you take out the singers from the music you hear on the radio today, you’d be bored to tears with all the boring, uncreative and shitty music that’s become way to popular and just needs to die quickly.

Here is a sampler of some of my favorite post-rock tracks. Take note that post-rock songs usually have build-ups, so when the music sounds all slow and boring, don’t immediately assume it sucks, just wait a bit and you’ll understand why you just waited.

I set out today to get something different than my other guitars. I have a 12 string acoustic, a 6 string travel acoustic, a 6 string Epiphone Explorer and an ESP 7 string. This definitely is different. It’s a hollow body, with lots of controls, looks completely different, has smaller frets, glossy fretboard and a bunch more. It sounds different than anything I have and the tone controls are better than anything I’ve used on regular guitars. It even has 2 output jacks!

FYI this guitar raised in price a few days before I bought it, by about $630 CDN. I was lucky enough to get the old price!

by Shawn Lee’s Ping Pong Orchestra

Probably my favorite artist as of lately has made a Christmas album, in the same style as his other albums… stylish retro funky jazz. It’s Christmas music that doesn’t suck, I swear!

Review: One of the funkiest Holiday albums you’ll ever hear — a great set of instrumentals that’s every bit as great as the other work by Shawn Lee’s Ping Pong Orchestra, but which has a special Christmas focus as well! All the tunes here are familiar carols, but Shawn does them with a hip instrumental groove that’s got plenty of snapping drums on the bottom — and lots of cool flourishes from vibes, keyboards, and guitar over the top! This is definitely the right sort of CD to spice up any sort of Holiday gathering– and it features wonderful funky takes on “Little Drummer Boy”, “O Come All Ye Faithful”, “Do You Hear What I Hear”, “My Favorite Things”, “Jingle Bells”, “Deck The Halls”, “Silent Night”, and “Carol Of The Bells”. – Dusty Groove America
